Jaipur: The 26th Lokrang Mahotsav, which is spreading the colors of folk culture, is painting the people of Jaipur with its colours. Songi Mukhvate, the dance which reached the stage at the National Folk Dance Festival on the 5th day of Lokrang Mahotsav on Thursday, has come to the state after 10 to 15 years.

Along with it, Haroba, Baiga, Kalshi Phugdi, Rai were the dances which were present in the previous Lokrang presentations. Is different from. Lokrang is taking everyone on a cultural journey from North to South and from West to North East India. On the 5th day, 220 artists from 12 states performed. Handicraft products remain the first choice of visitors to the National Handicraft Fair held at Shilpgram.

Due to the festive season, a large number of people are reaching Shilpgram, everyone’s faces are glowing with appreciation for the products of the handicraftsmen. Here folk singing, Jhumar of Punjab, Bull Dance of Rajasthan, Phag of Haryana, Chholiya of Uttarakhand and Pad Dangal of Rajasthan were presented on the stage of Shilpgram. Ravana Hattha, Kachhi Ghodi, Bahurupiya and Kalbeliya attracted everyone’s attention.

The National Folk Dance Festival started with the singing performance of Rajasthan’s folk singer Sumitra Devi. He enthralled everyone by singing the bhajans ‘Ram Sa Peer’ and ‘Saanwario Ghat Mai’ to the accompaniment of tandoora, dholak, manjira and harmonium. After the Jagrana dance of Jammu and Kashmir, the celebration proceeded with the Rai dance of Uttar Pradesh. Rai dance performed in Bundelkhand is a dance inspired by Krishna Raas.

Baiga dance of Madhya Pradesh is performed by the Baiga tribe mainly on the occasion of marriage. Artists dressed in tribal costumes performed in the middle. In this, the scene of honoring the bride’s brother by making him sit on an elephant was also realised. The tunes of musical instruments like Mandal, Nagara, Timki and Thiski resonate in it. The Kalshi Fugdi dance of Goa depicts the entertainment performed by Paniharina women carrying water in their hands.

Lai Haroba dance from Manipur drenched everyone with the aroma of North-East India. Lai Haroba is a dance dedicated to creation. The basic feeling of the dance is to thank nature. After the Bhavai dance of Rajasthan, the amazing feats of manly bravery art of Maharashtra thrilled everyone. Better balance and concentration was demonstrated in Charol Jagoi/Stick Dance. Artists from Barmer presented Aangi Gair dance.

Songi Mukhwatte dance which came from Maharashtra became a topic of discussion among everyone. Artists wearing big masks along with two lions reached the stage. This dance is performed by the Konkana tribe on Chaitra Purnima. There are two characters Kaal Bhairav and Betal. The dance gives the message of victory of good over evil. An endangered musical instrument like Tarpa is played here. The Holi dance performed by the artists of Dangi tribe of Gujarat filled everyone with the enthusiasm of the festival of Holi.
