Jaipur. Holi, the festival of colours, brings happiness and excitement, but at the same time can also cause risks for the eyes. Chemical colours, synthetic powder and water balloons can cause eye injury or infection. This is what Ophthalmologist Dr. Kujlata Khuteta of Jaipur says.

Dr. Kujlata Khuteta said that apply coconut oil, petroleum jelly or any good moisturizer around your eyes so that the colour does not stick easily. Protect the eyes from colour and chemicals by wearing sunglasses or swimming goggles. Also, use organic, herbal or home-made natural colours instead of chemical colours.

Avoid colours getting into the eyes during Holi and if the colour gets into the eyes, avoid rubbing the eyes. Avoid water balloons as it poses a risk of injury. Wash hands frequently so that the colour does not reach the eyes. Apart from this, use clean water to thoroughly clean the color stuck in the eyes.

Do not use soap or other chemicals. If irritation in the eyes persists, use lubricating drops as per the doctor’s advice. If redness, irritation or blurred vision persists in the eyes, contact an eye specialist immediately.
