Jaipur. The biggest confluence of Sanatan Dharma and faith is Prayag Maha Kumbh. Kumbh means accumulation. The work of Kumbh is to absorb everyone in itself, to mold diversity into unity, to absorb and give shape to even that which is rough. When the existence of the untouched merges in the pot, then the pot i.e. Kumbh has meaning. People always remember the Kumbh of Amrit. Our thoughts, thousands of things, become immortal by merging in this Kumbh.
This is not Kumbh, it is Maha Kumbh. This is the Maha Kumbh of the country. It is the Maha Kumbh of our identity. It is the Maha Kumbh of culture. It is the Maha Kumbh of Sanatan Dharma. Everything is contained in one pot. The Amrit Kumbh that came out of the ocean during the churning of gods and demons was protected by the special efforts of Sun, Moon, Guru and Saturn. The moon protected the Kumbh from falling, the sun from bursting, Jupiter from demons and Saturn from the fear of Indraput Jayant.
The Kumbh takes place when the Sun, Moon, Jupiter and Saturn are in the same zodiac signs in which they were positioned when the drops fell from the Amrit Kalash. The Sun comes in Capricorn with the Moon and Jupiter comes in Taurus with the Moon after twelve years. This Kumbh takes place in Prayag. The conjunction of Saturn is considered important. It is said that the great fruit obtained by performing a thousand Arshvamedha Yajnas and a hundred Vajpayee Yajnas and circumambulating the land a lakh times, bathing a thousand times in Kartik, a hundred times in Magh and bathing in Narmada a crore times in Baishakh can be obtained by just bathing once in the Maha Kumbh.
It is said that during the time of Emperor Harshvardhan, a ceremony was organized every fifth year in the Sangam area of Prayag which was called Mahamoksha Parishad. Kings of 18 subordinate countries participated in it. This ceremony lasted for about two and a half months. The emperor worshipped the idols of Mahatma Buddha, Lord Surya and Shiva in turn. On the occasion of this religious ceremony of Prayag, he used to donate to the poor. He even used to donate his personal ornaments. When did the Maha Kumbh begin is a subject of research.
There can be arguments on this but it is certain that this great festival will continue forever. We are witnesses of this Maha Kumbh. Someone else will become the next one. The process of arrival of new ideas in the Maha Kumbh of India will keep flowing like the flow of rivers. The Maha Kumbh will keep filling up with new philosophies. It is faith that brings people closer to each other. It is a festival that connects people to society.
These thoughts came to the fore in a discussion organized on Sanatan and Maha Kumbh in the camp of Mehandipur Balaji Dham in Sector 8 in Prayagraj today. Prayagputra Rakesh K Shukla was the chief guest in the ceremony organized on this occasion. On this occasion, Mahant Dr. Naresh Puri Maharaj said that coming to Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj is a big thing. Nothing can be bigger than this in life. On this occasion, Pandit Suresh Mishra, the founder president of Sanskriti Yuva Sanstha, said that Mahant Dr. Naresh Puri Maharaj has been working continuously for Sanatan and culture since he took charge of Mehandipur Balaji Dham and he remains a leader in every work of social concern.
