Jaipur: Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, Lok Sabha MP Shr-i Rahul Gandhi, and Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot on Saturday inaugurated ‘Gandhi Vatika.’ This monumental project, built at a cost of Rs 85 crore, is a tribute to the invaluable heritage of Mahatma Gandhi and aims to introduce his profound philosophy to the new generation.
A Monument to Gandhian Values
Gandhi Vatika, nestled within the Central Park of Jaipur, stands as a symbol of reverence and homage to Mahatma Gandhi. Shri Gehlot, emphasized the enduring relevance of Gandhiji’s philosophy in contemporary India. He applauded this innovative endeavor aimed at introducing the youth to the profound thoughts and values espoused by Gandhiji.
A Beacon of Hope for the Nation
Addressing over 200 eminent Gandhians from across the country, Shri Kharge lauded the commendable effort to disseminate Gandhiji’s principles to the masses. He urged other states to follow suit, highlighting the critical role of such institutions in guiding the nation, especially during times when democracy faces global challenges.
Learning Courage from Gandhiji
Shri Rahul Gandhi called upon the audience to view Gandhiji not merely as a historical figure but as a way of life. He emphasized the need to eliminate fear from our lives and urged the younger generation to draw inspiration from Gandhiji’s fearlessness. He noted that when one’s needs are modest, ego fades away, and facing adversity with courage brings about positive change. Shri Gandhi underlined the necessity of following the path charted by Gandhiji and other freedom fighters to build a radiant India.
Preserving Gandhiji’s Legacy
Gandhi Vatika, constructed at a cost of Rs 85 crore, is a testament to Gandhiji’s enduring influence. The thematic design, guided by a committee of Gandhian thinkers, showcases significant phases of Gandhiji’s life and the Indian independence movement. It houses a library, seminar hall, and conference room, providing a rich resource for studying Gandhian philosophy. The building construction emphasizes simplicity and environmental protection, featuring mud walls and Kelu roofs. The garden, with 14 thousand trees and plants, also boasts a cafeteria, an open theater stage, and a discussion room.
Rajya Sabha MP Shri K.C. Venugopal, Assembly Speaker Dr. C.P. Joshi, former Chief Minister of Punjab Shri Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, President of Gandhi Peace Foundation Shri Kumar Prashant, former Minister of State for Education Shri Govind Singh Dotasra, Chief Secretary Smt Usha Sharma, along with Council of Ministers, MLAs, and senior officials were present on the occasion.
