Jaipur: In the Lokrang Mahotsav organized by Jawahar Kala Kendra, art lovers are getting an opportunity to interact with each other with the folk arts of different states. On Tuesday, the third day of Lokrang, more than 230 artists displayed their skills. At the same time, the movement of visitors continued in the National Handicraft Fair held in Shilpgram.

Presentations of rural Bhavai, Mand singing, Ghoomar, Chari dance, Bijani and Mishra Raas were held on the main stage of Shilpgram. 9 folk dances from 7 states were presented under the National Folk Dance Festival in Jawahar Kala Kendra. The celebrations began with the Chholiya dance of Uttarakhand, located in North India. Artists from Jammu and Kashmir presented Dogri dance depicting the mountain simplicity.

The Deru dance performed during the worship of the Goddess gave an insight into the folk culture of Rajasthan. Deru is a folk instrument invented by taking inspiration from Lord Shiva’s Damru. In a dance filled with enthusiasm and joy, the incident of King Jagdev donating his head to the Goddess was described.

Artists from Gujarat embodied the tribal culture on stage in Dangi dance. This dance is performed by the Dangi tribe. Everyone was thrilled when the artists dressed in traditional attire created pyramids. In the Kadhagham dance of Tamil Nadu, the dancers attracted everyone’s attention with their acrobatics. The grandeur of Bhavai graced the stage. After Haryana’s Ghoomar, artists from Punjab presented Luddi, depicting the banter of young men and women on the melodious song. The program concluded with the presentation of artists from Tamil Nadu.

It is noteworthy that the 11-day folk color will continue to spread the fragrance of folk culture at Jawahar Kala Kendra till 8th November. National Handicraft Fair will continue in Shilpgram. The fair will be decorated with exhibition of handicraft products, there will be presentation of folk genres on the main stage. Folk artistes from different states will perform as part of the National Folk Dance Festival. The presentation to be held in the intermediate can be seen on the Jawahar Kala Kendra Facebook page.
