Mumbai. The world’s biggest cinematic event has begun. The first glimpse of this tremendous universe has come to everyone’s notice with the global launch of Ramayan: The Introduction. In this, the immortal battle of two biggest mythological characters Ram vs Ravana is being revived. This launch has been made truly global, where fan screenings of it took place simultaneously in nine major cities of India, while a massive billboard takeover in New York’s Times Square has created an atmosphere.
This mega project is led by visionary producer and filmmaker Namit Malhotra, and superstar Yash is its co-producer. This story is of the era when there was no trace of time. The balance of the universe was in the hands of three powers Brahma (who creates), Vishnu (who maintains) and Shiva (who destroys). Because of these three, gods, sages, humans and demons all lived in peace. But from the ashes of this balance, a power rises like never before.
An unexpected demon child is born and he becomes Raavan. The most fearsome and invincible king, whose roar makes the skies tremble. His aim is clear, to destroy Vishnu, who always stood against his race. To stop this, Vishnu himself comes to earth, but in his weakest form, that is, as a human prince named Ram. From here begins the battle of Ram vs Raavan, humans vs immortals, light vs darkness that never ends. This is Ramayan, a story that shows the battle of the universe, the power of fate and the victory of goodness. A saga that even today guides the minds and thoughts of crores of people.
This time the casting of Ramayan is no less than an epic. The team that has been formed by bringing together India’s biggest stars is really special. Ranbir Kapoor is playing the role of Ram. Yash, the pan-India superstar, is playing the role of Raavan and is also the co-producer of the film. Sunny Deol is playing the powerful role of Hanuman. Ravi Dubey is playing the new and refreshing role of Laxman.
Along with this powerful cast is another great team. Two first-time Oscar winners, music legends Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman are composing the music for the film. The epic battle scenes of the film are being choreographed by top Hollywood stunt directors Terry Notary (Avengers, Planet of the Apes) and Guy Norris (Mad Max: Fury Road, Furiosa).
And the grandeur of ancient India is being brought alive on the big screen by production designers Ravi Bansal (Dune 2, Aladdin) and Ramsay Avery (Captain America, Tomorrowland). All of this is creating a cinematic experience that has never been seen before.
Namit Malhotra, Founder, Prime Focus, Filmmaker and CEO, DNEG says, “This is not just a film but a cultural movement for every Indian across the world. Through Ramayana, we are not repeating history but presenting our heritage to the whole world. This is not just a film but an experience to be seen in the theatre that will take you to the depths of time, culture and soul.
