Jaipur. On New Year’s Eve, various events are being organized in hotels, restaurants, clubs, and farmhouses across Jaipur city. A large number of people will be on the streets late into the night to welcome the new year. In view of this, the police and traffic department have already made strict preparations to prevent any kind of hooliganism or accidents in the name of celebration.
Based on past experiences, the police will be keeping a close watch, especially on young people driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, and driving recklessly. Breaking the law on New Year’s Eve could prove costly for revelers.
Strict action against drunk driving
Jaipur City Traffic Police Deputy Commissioner (DCP) Sumit Mehrda said that special teams equipped with breathalyzers have been deployed at major intersections and crowded areas of Jaipur city on New Year’s Eve. Drivers caught driving under the influence of alcohol will face action under the Motor Vehicles Act. In such cases, along with fines, the transport department will also be notified to cancel their driving licenses. In serious cases, arrests may also be made under the Rajasthan Police Act. The police have clarified that instead of driving themselves after drinking, people should hire a driver or use a taxi.
Strict vigilance against driving without helmets, seat belts, and speeding
In addition, on New Year’s Eve, young people often drive at high speeds, without helmets and seat belts. This not only puts their own lives at risk but also endangers the lives of others. Such drivers will be strictly monitored, and immediate action will be taken against those who break the rules.
Restrictions on driving with open trunks and loud music
Action will also be taken against those who carry passengers in open trunks, engage in hooliganism in moving vehicles, and play loud music. The police have made it clear that such negligence on the roads will not be tolerated at all. Deployment of over 50 Mobile Forces
Over 50 mobile forces have been deployed in traffic-congested areas to ensure that these areas can be cleared immediately in case of traffic jams. Considering the traffic situation on Christmas, a one-way system will remain in effect on JLN Marg. The city’s roads will be monitored using drones. Traffic will be diverted immediately from areas experiencing heavy congestion.
Parking and One-Way System
On New Year’s Eve, program organizers and visitors have been instructed to park their vehicles only in designated parking areas. Action may be taken against those who park illegally, causing traffic disruption.
In case of increased traffic pressure, a one-way system may be implemented around Gaurav Tower as needed.
Traffic Signals and Restrictions on Heavy Vehicles
To ensure smooth traffic flow, traffic signals at major intersections, including New Gate Chowk and Ramniwas Bagh Chowk, will remain operational until 2 AM. In case of heavy traffic congestion, the entry of heavy vehicles into the city may also be restricted until 2 AM.
