Mumbai. Tata EV, the company leading the electric vehicle (EV) revolution in India, has announced a bold, unprecedented initiative to strengthen the country’s charging infrastructure. After achieving the milestone of 200,000 EV sales, Tata EV aims to more than double the number of charge points available in the country to 400,000 by 2027, reinforcing its commitment to make EV adoption more accessible and convenient.
To achieve this goal, Tata EV will partner with leading charging point operators (CPOs) to set up 30,000 new public charging points. These charging stations will be available for all EV brands, creating a comprehensive and convenient network for all users, charge point operators and infrastructure planners. This extensive network will include public, community and private/home chargers to meet the growing demand for zero-emission mobility. We will accelerate India’s transition to a greener and sustainable future.
Speaking on the launch of ‘Open Collaboration 2.0’, Mr. Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility said, “In the first phase of ‘Open Collaboration 2.0’, Tata EV will partner with leading CPOs to create the Tata EV Mega Charger Network that will provide superfast charging and unmatched reliability. Tata EV has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Power, Chargezone, Static and Zion to install 500 Tata EV Mega Chargers over the next two years. In the first phase, these chargers will be installed in key cities and on major highways.

TATA EV has been at the forefront of strengthening India’s EV charging infrastructure since 2019. Tata EV first introduced private/home charging solutions in partnership with Tata Group companies and then rolled out public charging infrastructure in cities with the fastest EV adoption. This gave the necessary support and encouragement to early adopters to adopt EVs.
