Jaipur: With the arrival of Diwali, there has been a massive surge in the demand for flowers, especially marigolds (locally known as hazare), which are widely used for worship and decoration. This year, the demand for marigold flowers has reached record levels. Despite an increase in supply at Jaipur’s flower markets, prices continue to rise.

Flower seller Babulal Saini says that during Diwali, Govardhan Puja, and Bhai Dooj, there is always a huge demand for marigold flowers for decorating homes and temples. As a result, on the morning before Diwali (Sunday), Jaipur’s Janata Bazaar flower market saw large crowds of buyers.

Farmer Neelam Saini shared that farmers are very happy with the good prices they’re getting for marigold flowers during the Diwali festival. Receiving fair compensation for their hard work over a long period has brought them both satisfaction and encouragement.

According to farmers, favorable weather this year has led to good production. However, even with a good yield, supply is falling short of demand, which is causing prices to rise. The demand for marigolds remains high not only for Diwali but also for Govardhan Puja and Bhai Dooj. Farmers and traders estimate that prices may rise even further on the day of Diwali.
